CYM Basketball consists of youth focused on learning and playing the game of basketball. The program runs from grades third through high school with main focus on fourth through eighth graders. Players, parents and coaches travel to various diocesan parishes and play other CYM teams in their appropriate grade bracket. We also play home games in our Parish Center Gym. The season runs from Thanksgiving to the middle of March.Time commitment involves one hour weekly practice, as well as two hours for game time every Saturday. Parents are expected to volunteer their time to help with the responsibilities of maintaining the program such as collecting admission, keeping scoreboard and running the clock. Assistance is also needed with selling drinks and snacks.
Children require no training, but should participate in weekly practice. Adults interested in coaching must attend Virtus Training and the Rutgers Coaches training. In addition, all coaches need to be fingerprinted.

St. Bernard Basketball Registration
Attention St. Bernard's Youth - we are preparing for another great season of youth basketball as part of the Diocese of Metuchen CYM League! This is a fun and active program focused on learning the fundamentals of basketball, teamwork, and positive competition and is one of St. Bernard's most popular ministries.Registration is open now - Friday, September 27th through Sunday, October 13th on TeamSnap at the following link:
https://registration.teamsnap.com/form/10496COST: The cost to register is $150 per player, and $200 for multiple players in the same immediate family regardless of the number of siblings registered. New reversible uniforms, if your son or daughter does not already have one that fits, will be $75 this season.
WHO: Our program is open to boys and girls from 4th grade through 12th grade. Parishioners are given priority in our program provided registration is submitted and paid by the deadline and we do accept non-parishioners upon approval. Space is limited, so please register early as we unfortunately do have a waitlist every year for some grade levels.
WHEN: Practice will be on weeknights once per week starting in early to mid-November based on the volunteer coaches' schedules and available time in our gym. There will be 10 regular season games on Saturdays for 4th through 8th grade teams beginning December 7th through mid-March and Sundays for High School teams beginning January 4th through mid-March. Teams at the top of their division will be invited to participate in league playoffs in March and some of our teams are able to play in tournaments run by other parishes during the season.
VOLUNTEERING: Our wonderful coaches are all returning, but we are in need of new volunteers to coach the 4th grade boys team and 4th, 5th and 6th grade girls teams. We also need additional members for the St. Bernard Basketball Board to help organize and serve our ministry.
